Volunteer Positions for IS|CS 2023

Intersections|Cross-sections 2023 is looking for volunteers to help ensure that the conference runs smoothly. There are a variety of roles, so no matter what your strengths, expertise, or past experience are, there are many ways for you to contribute.

Intersections Moderators

Volunteers are needed to act as moderators throughout the Intersections portion of the conference. Individuals will be assigned an academic panel or multiple academic panels to attend and moderate. This will involve introducing speakers, ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of presentations and facilitating Q+A’s/audience discussion where feasible. 

Logistics/Tech Support

The individual(s) assigned this role will be asked to assist the IS|CS committee with general operations, including set-up and tear down of the venue, technical and A/V support. Light to moderate physical labour required. 

Registration/Hospitality Support

The individual(s) assigned this role will be asked to assist with accomodations for attendees of the conference. This includes operating the registration desk, providing general information/answering questions and overseeing the delivery of catering. 

Social Media/Promotional Support

The individual(s) assigned this role will be asked to promote the conference via Twitter and/or Instagram. This includes live tweeting or posting stories using the conference hashtags #ISCS2023 #BYU2023 consisting of observational comments on the presentations/panel content, meaningful quotes from presenters, and reposts/tags where applicable. Personal smartphone + Twitter/Instagram account is required.
